Chandigarh to pilot computer education for visually challenged
Chandigarh: In an effort to help children with special needs, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to introduce computer education for the visually challenged and low vision children by initially setting up a special resource center in the Sector 8 Government Senior Secondary school.
Disclosing this, the Union Territory Home Secretary Krishna Mohan said that the Administration is committed to provide the inclusive education to children with special needs.
He further said that all sorts of special arrangements would be made to help these children be a part and partner of the society. The UT Administrator General (Retd) SF Rodrigues approved this proposal.
The National Association for the Blind and Sarv Shikhsa Abhiaan Society, Chandigarh would provide the education at free of cost, besides providing special software and Braille embossers to the children with special needs.
Also, for inclusive education of these children, Special Resource Centers would also be established at Government Senior Secondary Schools of Sector 45, Sector 15 and Sector 38, the Chandigarh Administration stated.
