Cabinet Committee Approves INR 313 Cr. for Capacity building under NeGP
January 10, 2007. Paving the way for the acceleration in efforts to raise awareness and skills for implementing e-Governance, government approved the outlay for next three years.
The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs in India on Thursday approved an outlay of Rs 313 crore over three years to build capacity of policy and decision makers for the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), to be implemented by the Department of Information Technology in the country.
The capacity building scheme aims at providing technical and professional support to state level policy and decision-making bodies and to develop specialised skills for e-Governance, including setting up an institutional framework for state level strategic decision-making and state e-Governance Mission Team (SeMT).
The scheme would also impart specialised training and orientation programme to SeMTs and decision makers—state legislature and senior bureaucrats—for knowledge sharing and bringing in international best practices, besides strengthening of training institutions in states.
The approval would help in setting up of a central Capacity Building Management Cell for coordination and implementation of the scheme, which will be working under the Empowered Committee for CB under the chairmanship of Secretary (IT)
